A very famous and traditional handicraft of Kerala. that is used to adorn the forehead of an elephant during ceremonial occasions.
Legends talk of Lord Brahma being the first to design the Nettipattam, and Airavatha, Lord Indra's white elephant being fortunate to wear it.
It is believed to represent all the gods in Hinduism and bring peace & properity. Thus, today, people appropriately, also use it as a wall hanging.
Made in Guruvayoor, from Copper, with Gold plating and then fixed on a velvet background.
